I am facing some problems using skype when i am doing a video chat with my friends. I have a good internet connection and video chat works well with other softwares. How can i improve the call quality in skype?

I have an in-built camera in my laptop but I want the receiver to have much more quality video. So I want to make the external cam as the default cam. How can I do this? I can't find a tab in settings.

I am a bit confused about how Skype works. According to my friend, Skype is free.

When I tried using Skype this morning, I got the “Skype has stopped working” error message. So I checked the windows task manager where I found two residuals. So I ended the Skype.exe and skypePM.exe files.

Confirming that all files are closed, I restarted the Skype for Windows. I was able to view all my contacts, but the recent contacts were not there. When I restarted the system, I was able to find the contacts in Recent tab but no contacts were shown being online.

I was using Skype 4.2 when I got the following error message while trying to show someone what sound Skype makes when it rings. 

Have you seen this before? What does this mean?
