Why is it every time I connect my speaker to my computer, it isn't making any sound? I'm pretty sure that my speaker is working as I have tested it onto my iPod. I've even tried reinstalling my sound card driver but it didn't make any difference.

I'm using a computer with a Realtek 6.1-channel onboard audio and I want to be able to use my headset-mic with the desktop speakers at the same time. I work as a virtual assistant with only a few calls coming in. Rather than sit in front of my computer the entire work shift, I want to be able to leave the computer without having to miss a call coming in through Skype. However, with my headset-mic device plugged in, the speakers are automatically disabled. I have the headset plugged into the green audio port, while the speakers are plugged into the black port. How do I enable both devices to work simultaneously so I can hear the ringing through the speakers when a call comes in through Skype while I am away from the computer?

Graphic Card: ATI RAEDON HD 4350 1GB DDR2

The problem is that there is no sound. I recently downloaded latest drivers but as you can see in the picture below, the icon for sound is not covered with "X", which means that my audio devices are fine, drivers installed. if you know what could be a problem please help me. Thank You

My windows 7 machine was running perfectly the other night. I was watching a movie with my headphones. The problem started the following day. Now if I try to listen to anything on the computer, I must have my headset plugged in or I get no sound. Everything show's its' working correctly in device manager and I even tried going back to the last known restore point. Still no go. I'm scratching my head here folks. Hopefully, you guys won't have to scratch your heads nearly as hard.

The sound in my computer disappeared after the installation of a software that converts sound from tapes to PC, it worked for a while and then disappeared. I reinstalled the sound card but it seems that it is not a good solution. Any help please?
