Sound Cards
My motherboard is intel DG41RQ which has a built-in sound card. Now I can not hear any sound. Now what should I do? Should I use an external sound card or should I change the motherboard?

Every time I reboot my computer, the sound settings switch back to its default state. I can change it after rebooting and it works great. But whenever I reboot it, the default device becomes the AMD HDMI output again.
I need a solution to this problem. How can I fix it so that the default Playback device doesn't get modified when I reboot? If anyone has a solution please, help me.

I am running a Windows XP PC with IDT HD Audio on my laptop. While using it, I noticed that when I turned the volume meter to the highest level, it will slowly decrease. I searched for possible solutions in Google but most forums and articles are advising me to uninstall and re-install the sound drivers. I don't know much about computers and I don't want to make things worst so can someone please help me in resolving this issue?
Thanks.

I have an ASUS F6Ve-B1 laptop. The problem is, it is starting to produce a nonstop noise similar to a mouse click. I need to turn off the volume of my laptop to avoid hearing the noise but I usually listen to music so I cannot just turn the volume off forever.
It was working well last night so I really don't know what happened for this problem to incur. I need help please. Thank you.

What is the difference between these two sound cards:
DG5.1 with Audio Processor : C-Media CMI8786 High-Definition Sound Processor (Max. 96KHz/24bit)
DS 7.1 with Audio Processor : Asus AV66 High-Performance Sound Processor (Max.192 KHz/24 bit) ?
I think is not only between 5.1 and 7.1….. Which audio card you prefer?

Hi I am using now a windows 7 ultimate 64bit (after rebooting),and when I install the speakers and Ethernet Cable it seems that my computer can't detect it.
I have tried reinstalling the drivers for sound and LAN as the sound card is built in to the motherboard. But still have the same scenario and Device manager shows no faults.

Hi friends
I have a HP Pavilion dv5200tx laptop. I'm getting a pair of M-Audio AV40 speakers, and I am told that good speakers are limited by weak onboard sound card. I see the Echo Indigo Card has been very well-reviewed. Is this sound quality really good than options from Creative like the Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB?
Thanks
