Its been many days since I have heard the term 'virtual memory'. On carefully browsing about it I came to know that its size matters in the processing speed but I did not get much of it. I tried seeing my size of virtual memory but unsuccessful. Could anyone please tell me about the virtual memory in the computer, its recommended size on a particular condition and why is it important? I would also like to know its relation with the hard disk.

Couple of days ago my friends were talking about something called primary memory and secondary memory and I had to remain shut since I knew nothing about it. Similarly, today I even heard some tech newbie saying about the same. Actually what is the difference among them. Up to now I have just known that primary memory is volatile and secondary memory is non volatile but I very desperately want to know more about it.

I do not know a lot about processors but I would like to know about cache memory? What is actually that L1 cache, L2 cache and others, does the cache memory have any effect on the processing speed of a computer and why is the size of cache memory so low? I have also noticed that the core i3, i5 and i7 have a larger volume of cache memory. Are the cache memory a part of processors?

What is file-sharing used for? Can you name some file sharing applications that I can use? Are they free from malware and safe to download into my system? Can I use them on windows or do I need Linux for it? Please let me know if they are also free for use or if I have to pay for them. |
