Storage

I wanted to create a back up of my files so I was planning to get an external hard drive. The technician confuses me about the advantages between a normal external hard drive and a solid state drive which is more expensive.

I have important files on my computer saved on, My Documents.  Every time I make updates on my current files and create new files, I always copy it to my external hard disk as my backup. But it takes time in copying and sometimes I forgot to backup my files when my work is loaded.

Is there a way to make it easier for me to backup my files regularly?

Hello,

I have a 16 GB Transcend pen drive. When I copy some data into my pen drive from my campus, the computer of my campus always detects a virus named comres.dll with USB Disk Security and Kaspersky Antivirus. But I am using Avast Free Antivirus which had never complained to me about the virus!!!

Avast Antivirus software really works to detect virus?

I had configured automatic files and folder backups to take place at midnight every night. I have accepted the default of letting Windows decide what files and folders to back up.

A file that my brother is working on for a school project has been corrupted. I am  concerned that because I did not specify my brother's Documents library, he cannot restore the file from backup.

What do I do?

USB Device Not Recognized

One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.

I was going through some older hard drives to see what I needed to keep and what I can possibly get rid of. Alas, I went to plug in my older model Seagate and now the computer will not recognize the drive. Is it possible that I reformat the drive so it will work with my machine.

Hi,

I have an external verbatim hard disk with 2Gb of capacity. In fact, when copying a large file (more than 4Gb of size), the copying procedure is always incomplete and stops at 4Gb of size of a corrupted file in my disk, but no error message is displayed.

Can anybody help me ?

Thanks

Hi,

I purchased a new 80GB Western Digital PATA hard disk and connected it to my computer using an Ultra ATA cable with the jumper set to 'master'. But Windows shows the hard disk size only as 32GB even though the jumper is not set to 'Limit to 32GB'. There is no 'slave' disk connected to the cable.

Can anyone help?
