Storage
I am not sure what kind of drive we really need. We do not have any hard drives except the ones in our machines. We are going on a trip and want to use a drive for multiple purposes. We need to have one for movies and music plus be able to store our photos on from our digital camera. Can we do all this on one drive? Any suggestions on what would be best?

I just purchased a WD Passport and backed up all my photos and files to the drive. The next day when I went to add more files the drive froze my computer. Now I can not access the drive without it causing problems. How can I get the files I have off of the drive if my computer keeps freezing up? Is this a software problem or drive issue?

I am collecting images from a recent event from a few different people.
I can use email, but the emails will probably be too big. I could use cloud storage, but that means everyone must have an account for that provider.
So, I am looking for a free web-app to allow other people to share pictures with me.

I have files and folders created in different locations, such as a Windows 8 PC and a NAS. I'd like to back them up from time to time, for example to a destination folder on NAS or to any other local drive. I need free(if possible) open source, easy to use software that could do back-up on a schedule.

I am running 2 drives in my main system with 2 additional external drives. I am looking for a quick way to scan all these drives to find any duplicate files. Then I want to keep one file and delete the rest of them. Is there a program or script I can run for this?

I backed up and reformatted my main hard drive. Then I realized my backups were incomplete. I need to get the data off of the drive I just reformatted. How can I restore this data from this hard drive? Is this possible without software? Or a software you can recommend?

I have a couple older hard drives that I added to my machine. I wanted to get old photos off of the drives. I know the password for the admin. But neither drive is letting me access the file system. Both were running Windows XP. How to get the files off these drives?

I really do not want to put everything in a cloud because it does not seem safe. A lot of reports of people having it hacked. Can I put my photos and docs on a external hard drive and store it in a chest freezer? Then in a emergency like fire my data will be secure?

I have been getting a pop up error on my computer for months that says my hard drive is having problem and to reformat the drive. I am concerned this is a type of malware that has gotten into my system. Do I need to run a scan to remove or is my drive having problems?

I was going to stop using my second drive because it was conflicting with my main hard drive. So I went out and changed the drive letter to E. I took that drive out to put into another computer and the new computer can not see the drive. How can I switch it back to C so the computer will see it?
