Ubuntu Linux
I want to reformat the hard drive and install a more recent operating system like Ubuntu to my Apple Power G4.But I found out that my notebook would not turn on I already tried to charge the battery for good 4 hours but it doesn’t giving a response.
Does the adapter is shot or the battery itself shot? Here’s my UFO/yo-yo style model adapter: M7332/ SR# 1191804177.What could you recommend about this? Do I need to replace the old battery?
And can you give me some suggestions if what is the cheapest battery because I just only have a limited budget.

I would like to set up and install Ubuntu and then dual boot it with Windows 7 until I become comfortable using it. I am using the Windows Installer Wubi for the process, and I am installing it on a 30GB partition in drive C. But I am receiving an error. I have tried all the possible solutions that are available in the internet, but nothing helps. The screenshots of the error are shown below:

I am trying to encode a 16-bit grayscale image to movie using FFmpeg SVN-r0.5.1-4:0.5.1-1 Ubuntu1.1. I am using FLV1 codec but the pixel format changes to YUV420. I think the codec is not compatible with the colour space and I am receiving the following error: "Incompatible pixel format 'gray16be' for codec 'ffv1', auto-selecting format 'yuv420p'" I have also tried the raw video but ended up in container compatibility issue. I couldn’t find any codec that satisfies both the colour space and container requirements.
Please help me resolve the issue.
What should I do?

I am unable to perform a clean installation of Ubuntu 11.10 using the 32-bit or 64-bit installation CD on my dual boot computer as the screen breaks to a black background with a cursor without proceeding to the installation process. I am able to successfully complete the 64-bit installation process using a USB stick but on restarting the computer, it throws the following error message: “Error: invalid arch independent ELF magic”
Can anyone help me to resolve the issue?

The Application cannot be started. [Context="user'] caught unexpected exception!
I tried so much to find solutions but I always failed.
Does anyone here know how to fix this?

Good day!
I've been experiencing a weird occurrence in my Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop. I've also noticed that this problem happens after around two or three hours of computer usage. As stated in the title of my post, the whole screen seems to reset: the panels, the desktop icons, and the windows disappear for a while then returns. However, the appearance is different (as shown in the pictures): the icons were altered, the title bar of the windows disappears, and even the colors and font of the texts. Additionally, I can't even use the other desks of Ubuntu. My only way to fix this is to restart my system. However, it is troublesome to reboot the system. Is there a way to fix his to the original appearance without rebooting? Thanks.

I am getting an error message: “Not a COM32R Image Boot” when trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 in a USB Flash Disk. I used Startup Disk Creator in Ubuntu Version 11.04 and followed all the steps provided in Ubuntu Install from USB page correctly, but still getting the same error message. What is the cause for this and how to fix it?
