How can I run as a root user in Ubuntu? I have to install some software dependencies but the system keeps telling me that Im not a root user, what is the command for running this in terminal and once running as a root user can I delete some directories in the sys folder? I want to change the directory of the files.

I am using Linux (Ubuntu). While using, it is creating some core files in random folders. I don’t know what these core files are. I don’t even know why are they being created and what is their purpose. Are they going to create any problem in my system? Suggest some solution for this issue.

I am a newbie to Linux and trying to play media player i.e. real player but it gets hanged or sometimes show message “can’t open audio device/dev/dsp: Resource unavailable” or no sound. I don’t know how to fix this problem. Is there any miss-configuration or anything else? Help to solve this issue.
