Video Cards
When I try to start a game I get an error message “Could not load Direct3D” or I get could not find a suitable graphics card and something "Direct3D and then eventually my computer will stop responding.
I tried installing the latest version of Direct X, but I still get the same error.
Works with other programs such as playing movies.

Guys, I recently purchased a second ATI 6970 graphics card for my system to be run in CrossFire configuration. I expected graphics performance in games to double but FPS rate is almost the same as that with a single card. I have measured the FPS rate in "Assassin's Creed" and "Dead Space". What could be the issue? I have attached screenshot from GPU-Z:

Hello.
My friend ready to upgrade his video cards and stuck as to what should do.
He already have one 4850 512mb, and thinking wanted to crossfire it with a 1GB of the same brand and model.
And now he doesn't know which to choose. The 4870 will be a bit more, which He is willing to pay, but only if it yields a much better performance gain over crossfiring the two 4850's.
Can someone give me some advice?
Another thing is psu.
I know it can handle the 2 4850's, but if it can't handle the 4870, there's no point in purchasing it.

I've been thinking about buying a new graphics card lately and I'm still a little lost. Basically:
I found GTX 460 OC 1280Mb 256Bit DDR5 NVidia PCI manufactured by Colorful for $250
Another shop which sells HD 6950 Cayman 2Gb 256Bit DDR5 Ati Radeon PCI manufactured by Digital Alliance for $300
or HD 6950 1Gb 256Bit Mini DP DDR5 HDMI Dual DVI (HD-695X-ZDFC) Ati Radeon PCI Exp.manufactured by XFX For $225
Would it be a good idea to go for the cheaper one? Do brand names really matter?
Any tips?
Which is quite irrelevant, but does a better graphic card result in faster rendering for design?

I will be upgrading my video card, I just want to know which is a better video card with regards to resolution; is it an AGP or
PCI-E based video card.
Which one can render better graphics; the one that can run a computer game smoothly?

i have a NVIDIA 6800 ultra and I don't know what the problem is.
I can't update my drivers. when I launch battlefield 2 it gives me the NVIDIA drivers option. when i click on the option it goes into the NVIDIA display setup.
I keep getting this error message:
The NVIDIA setup program could locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit.
