Virus & Spyware

My laptop restarted, when it came back  the looping Windows Advanced Booting Options appears. Upon choosing from its options, all of it had the same effect and it does not resolve my problem. I change the value of my SATA to IDE to AHCI something. Luckily, I was able to open my windows but it was really, really slow and everything there is not working. My firewall cannot be adjusted to on or off. And there is no options for disabling my anti virus if it's the one blocking on my system.

Hi experts,

I am currently running Windows 7 Ultimate. I had a virus just this day. I can’t seem to boot from Safe Mode. The F8 key don’t lead me to Windows Advanced Boot Options, but rather to GRUB4DOS 0.4.4 with a red window. First of all, I don’t know what grub is. But I am seeing options like this:

windows 7 with slic loader

Windows 7 with SLIC Loader (default) — which if I clicked will start my window

Windows 7 without Loader — same thing

Windows 7 with SLIC Loader (Use Alternative Method)

Windows 7 with SLIC Loader(full debug output)

Windows 7 with SLIC Loader(more forceful-may crash) —– I never try this

My Control Panel is missing. I can’t find it on the start menu, so I tried explorer. exe but it wasn’t there. The Administrative Tools appears on the Control Panel’s place. I tried opening the task manager, but ctrl+alt+del won’t work. An alert box appears telling me that the task manager has been disabled by your administrator.

When in fact, I am the only user of this computer. I scanned for viruses and my AVG had found a Trojan. KillVA virus. The anti virus can't delete the virus. I booted from safe mode, but the control panel didn’t show.

I made another profile, and luckily was able to find it in the right place. But the question is how can I restore it from my original profile?

Hello! Everyone,

I have a problem with my Antivirus program. I hope somebody can help me. My computer is running on Windows Vista SP2. My HDD is 40GB, 2.0GHz. Even though my HDD is only 40GB, I do not have much files in my computer as well as applications because I am using my computer mostly on the internet. Now, my Antivirus software is McAfee.

At first, I thought my browser is what makes my computer slow. so, I cleared cache, cookies, files and histories on my internet options. Unfortunately, the same slow connection persisted. Then I decided to check my "Task manager". That’s when I realized that McAfee consumes a lot of memory in my active processes.

Hi!

I am a desktop computer user. I am suffering from the most common and irritating virus autorun. My computer is affected by this virus, through the pen drive. When I plug in any pen drive then it automatically starts and then the autorun virus affects my computer from the pen drive.

Is there any way to get a remedy from this virus?

My Antivirus does it, but I don’t think it can remove this virus properly.

I've been looking for a genuine website where I can get up to date information on the latest threats on computers. I don't want to see the actual threats but some sort of report about it like what others are experiencing.

They say prevention is better than cure. So it would be very helpful if I am able to find what's new and how to avoid those threats. Right now, I am using this link. Please let me know if you have something better than the link I have provided. Your suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thank you.

Is svchost.exe a harmful virus?

Yesterday,I used my computer and I noticed a problem. A file or program called "svchost.exe." I think it eats my processor up to 30%. I cannot stop the process because it wouldn't allow me. I also cannot restart the process so what I did was to restart the whole system to be able to check if its going to show again. After that I clicked on the yes button to be able to stop the process but nothing happened.

Is there anyway in which I can stop showing the program or stop it?

Is it a harmful virus?
