Virus & Spyware

Virus & Spyware

My computer screen has been attacked with warnings that my system is in a very critical mode advising me to download and install their program.

The pop up box shows a dreadful image and almost scares me as if my system is about to crash due to viruses, system and registry errors and that I should scan my system immediately. It is really annoying and keeps popping to my desktop. Even if I hit the X button to exit the pop up and make a full scan using my real Antivirus, it will come back and appear on my computer again and again.

I have read a lot of good reviews about the AVG and I am really wondering about it. I want to try this AVG if its really good and really helpful. Now, I still have the Norton Antivirus 2008 at my PC and it runs good. But any chance, I would like to download and install the AVG version 8 from the internet which is free. Is there a possibility that I can download AVG 8 and I still have the Norton Antivirus 2008 on my PC? Will this AVG work tell me to uninstall this Norton?

Honestly, I just want the trial, I don't want to remove Norton unless I am sure AVG will install Ok and will work good than Norton.

I have two computers for my children, one of them is Windows and other one is Windows XP both run with free AVG. So far, they are both good, respectively, no problem. Then, I just bought a new one for my own but it is on Windows Vista. Because I know AVG is safe I also downloaded the free AVG in my Windows Vista but suddenly I couldn't open it and couldn't save it.

Is it not functioning at Vista? Will you give me any source to get the free download or what do I really need to do with it ?

Hi!

I used different kinds of Antivirus in my computer but I am not satisfied. I reinstalled it and now I am looking for the best one. Can you help me to decide which is better between Norton and AVG. For AVG the advantage is that it is free in the internet, free download so I will not be using $$ to have it. Unlike with Norton that I have to buy it in store.

But this is really not that big deal, the important thing is what is the best among these two Antivirus. Which one do you prefer guys?

Thanks

My computer is devastated with viruses. Almost my .exe files are infected. I tried to scan it using a free version of the Avast virus scanner but it seems that the repair option doesn't work.

If I try to delete the infected files then things would get bad. M installed programs won't work. I do have an option of reformatting my computer but that would be the last option but if only I could repair the .exe files manually then that would be a better option. By the way the virus is win32/Salit. I don't have an Idea about this virus or where I got it from.

Hi! There,

I don’t know if anyone has experienced the same problem. I have a desktop PC, 120 GB hard disk, 2 GB RAM. Two days ago a friend came and asked me to assist him with some music files. He had an external hard drive. I plugged it in one of the USB ports and transferred the files.

I shut down the computer and when I logged in there was loud noise coming from the hard drive like something was scratching it. The strangest thing that happened was that every file I tried to open, opens for less than a second and before I even select an item from the directory, it closes down. This happens while trying to open any type of file.

Two days ago my Antivirus detected the presence of a boot sector virus. The computer started experiencing booting errors and I decided to load a new Windows XP Service Pack 3 OS. The installation process went through. But a problem came up when I pulled out the Windows Installation Disk out of the drive and carried out a reboot. Within a few seconds during the boot process a black screen came up with the message 'BOOTMGR is missing press ctrl+alt+del to restart'.
