Windows 7
I have many files with spaces and underscores in the file names which is acceptable by windows. But for an application i am using it cannot tolerate any spaces or special character in the file names. Hence, I am currently manually updating all the file names. But it looks like it is going to take a long time and hence wanted to check for help here. Can anybody share a script or batch file to read all the files in a folder and if the file name has space or special character those have to be removed. Thank you for helping

This is the latest unheard issue I am facing here. I still cannot believe this too can happen on a PC. I have tried updating drivers and have installed all available updates from windows, still the problem persists. My observation is hundred percent right. The PC automatically turns on by itself every Sunday at 11 o clock. I cannot accept this is happening because of a faulty power button because this cannot happen exactly like an alarm at 11 o clock. How to fix this issue? This is related to motherboard or some scheduler. I have found a temporary solution and that is removing the cell from the motherboard. Can anybody quickly help?

I am looking the reason to not able to encrypt and decrypt the files in windows operating system. Is there any specific reason behind that? What happens to the compression factor if the files are encrypted? Are there any loop holes or security threats in doing so. I was going through this topic in a blog on the other day but couldn’t get a feel of it properly. Have any body have good knowledge on the same? Can you please take an example and explain the reason behind the question of not able to encrypt and compress the file and folders in windows?

Is there any drivers or software tools from Microsoft or any other sites which can disable all pop up permanently? My application runs by default immediately after system login and displays graphically various information being received serially from the test setup. The user don’t have a keyboard or a mouse to control any thing. It is simply a read only monitor. Why do some times pop up comes related to display issues?
The user had only option to restart when pop up comes as he cannot close the pop up. I am working on Windows embedded 7 operating system

I want to automate changing the repeat interval of keys. Presently I am doing it on login every time. But it goes back to default and hence I have to set it on next time log in. Which is the registry in the system which holds the value of repeat rate? Can I change the registry key using some kind of C program? Do I need to also use batch file to run automatically on startup and change the keys repeat rate? Are there any other precautions I have to take while manually editing the registry? Can I edit text file present in HKCU/Control Panel/Keyboard to update the new value and commit? Is there any simpler ways of doing this?

I have this personal experience of speeds. I bought the laptop which came with windows 7 basic home edition. I got used to it and it was innovative, smart and stylishly good to see. But it was slow, booting was taking about 30 to 40 seconds but I got used to it. Remember that four colorful windows come together and slowly show some animation? Now I have got windows 8 in it and surprisingly windows 8.1 is fast. Now, laptop boots with in 8-10 seconds. Is it that efficient? Or over a period of time this slows down? Whatever, the speed is really exciting.

The PC I use has seen multiple OS starting from windows 7 to windows 8.1. The performance good and has never given any problems. I know there is a feature called disk defragmenter which helps in keeping memory contents together (I hope). I need your help in knowing whether this tool is now obsolete or is it really required to run manually. Does the OS runs this app regularly? I have never run this application. So, just want to know if this is something we can ignore because the OS is smart or still this is classic way to do manually
