Hello community,
One of my friends sends me a large compressed Zip file. He uses Mac and I am an XP user. My main problem is with decompression in which all the zip folder have a "/" character in the file name which is accepted on Macs but illegal in Windows XP. I need to know the way to rename the files within a compressed file for correct decompression or any ideas on how to fix this problem.
Please! Help needed! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello experts
I have used a Dell Dimension 4600 2.4 GHz, 250 GB WD SATA Hard Drive, 1 GB RAM.
I am trying to reinstall Windows but as soon as I insert the XP CD and click "Press any key to continue" the display goes black.
Also I have a Fedora Linux Distro on the other partition through Grub installed for the MBR.
I want to use this XP CD to boot. Does anybody have any idea?
I've used 4 until now but nothing is working. My classes will be starting on Monday and I have to work on this computer. Need your help to solve this.
Thanks in advance.

As of the moment, my computer running on Windows XP keeps on crashing. My old computer is connected with a USB wireless adapter for accessing the internet. I do my usual routine of start up and wait for the display in the desktop. For a few seconds after booting my computer, I can hear a repeatedly click sound. And suddenly the monitor screen just goes blank. But my mouse pointer is still alive because it can be seen whenever I move it to the upper left of my screen. Upon investigation, I remove the USB Wireless adapter and it works back to normal. What is wrong with my USB wireless adapter? Where is the problem?

My Dell Inspiron Laptop computer, XP Pro went into hibernation mode after insufficient amount of battery was left. When I booted it I realized some applications were behaving weirdly. All of the Microsoft Office Professional 7 applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) changed their appearance on the monitor screen. Like for instance in Microsoft Excel, the work area appeared with the color light gray and some white lines and icons. This should have been a white background with border indention and function icons. And the header should have the file name of the current opened document. All of the other programs and applications were normal except the Office applications. What happened to my laptop?
