I have more that 30,000 Microsoft office and PDF files saved on my Windows 2008 R2 Server. I want to perform a full text search of all the files. How can I make this possible?

You will need to search the files according to the file formats, and that is the PDF format and the Ms Office format. I will suggest that you use a third party application to search those files, the application is called Avafind.

  • You will need to go to the internet and search for avafind. You can get its free version as well as the licensed version that seems to have more functionality.
  • Download it and install in on the computer.
  • You will then need to launch it and then in the search field, you will just specify the extension of the files, for instance for PDF files you will type pdf, and for ms office files use doc or any other office format that you want.
  • The files will be listed.
