Accessing database in Access 97

Hi Techyv,

Please help me with this query. Is it possible to open an older access database in Access 97 instead of Access 2010?

What do I do, to get all column names with types alongside? Can I combine multiple columns of different formats and query using nested IFs?

Awaiting an early reply.

Brett

Hi Brett,

If  you are using the file, which is created by the access 2010. And you are trying to open that access97, Then you can't do that.

You have to save that file in access 2010 into access 97-2003 series. Then you can open that in the access 97.

Hello Brett S Nagle,

There are two possible ways to do the required task,

Solution 1: You can do this by making your database format change. This can be done by opening the database in Access 2010 and afterwards save it as .accdb format. Then you can open it in any database software regardless of the versions.

Solution 2: Convert the Access 97 file into access 2010 format. For this you have to use some type of converter like “Office Converter”.

The best approach out of two will be the use of accdb format.
