I'm trying to use Acrobat 9 Optimizer to compress images and delete some document metadata to reduce my PDF file size before uploading to a website.  Acrobat is giving an error of "This file appears to use a new format that this version of Acrobat does not support."  What does this Acrobat pro batch optimize pdf file error mean?  I'm on Windows XP 64 bit.

Hello there Jamior Miston,

To remove the error message you're getting you will have to slightly adjust your Adobe Acrobat Distiller settings.

Looks like your documents were done with one of the older versions of Adobe Acrobat, so you have to turn on compatibility mode in order to work with them.

To do that, find and run Acrobat Distiller on your computer. Once it's up and running, open Settings, choose option Edit Settings and find Compatibility. Set the compatibility mode to the version of the files you are working on and confirm changes.
