My computer is running in Windows 2000 Server as my primary domain controller and running Active Directory. I installed Windows 2003 Server tools on a Windows XP Pro computer to manage my users, etc.

The XP machine is in the domain. But, when I try to start Active Directory Users and Computers from the XP computer, I receive an error message saying "Naming information cannot be located”.

Please help me solve this problem.

Hi Tammy,  for this error, "Naming information cannot be located "while opening Active Directory and Users try to look at this link first. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/323542/you-cannot-start-the-active-directory-users-and-computers-tool-because

By default, TCP/IP filtering is configured with the Permit All setting, please refer to the above link to confirm this setting is correct.

Naming information cannot be located because specific domain cannot be located, this error can also occur if you use two Nics on the problematic windows 2003 server. Just check it on your part. Sometimes Active Directory requires DNS to find the domain. You need to set up the DNS. Follow this link.  http://support. microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;237675
