I want to restrict my user in using only two folders in a certain drive. For example, I just want him to have an access in drive D where there will is only 2 folders; 1 FINAL and 1 WIP. I want to add some restriction on these two folders especially the Final folder.
I also want the following to happen:
a) The user should not have any permission or control in deleting the folder.
b) One problem is he could not overwrite the file. Every time he would try saving the file in Final folder, he could save it initially but if he will modify it he could not save it with the same filename anymore.
Can someone please help me ASAP with this thing? Thanks!
Add Restrictions on Folders in Certain Drive
I will give you a simple procedure to access the folder options and change the credentials as you want according to the illustration above:
-
Locate the folder that you want to change its access credentials.
-
Right click on it.
-
Click on the security tab in the window that will open.
-
In the next window, choose the SYSTEM option and then allocate the credentials as you wish.
-
The credentials available are full control, read and execute, modify contents, list all contents, read, write and special permissions.
-
Allocate them depending on the level you want the users to access the folders.
-
Click on Apply when you are done.
-
And then click on OK.

Add Restrictions on Folders in Certain Drive
If you are over a network and you want to give permission to different users over the network it is easy and effective. You can set rights to each and every user with in a domain. You need to put restrictions you need to choose users on within you want to apply these limits and apply these changes. It can be easily done on the server side but if you are windows user then you can also do that. You can set permissions like control such as no body can overwrite the folder or file. They can not save the file or modify if the restriction is set. They can not save or delete the file that is restricted to modify. It is all possible by just right clicking the folders and then go to the security tab and you will be able to do this all in one. I hope this will solve your problem.
