Hi everyone,
A switch gets a frame that has a source as MAC address. However, the address is not in the MAC table. What is the recommended action that it can take? Moreover, how can it be framed with a MAC address?
Thanks for your help.
The address is not in the MAC table

Hello Joby,
You can enter a MAC Address into the table. It is called the static MAC address. To configure your static MAC addresses for the switch, you may try the steps below:
Step 1. Command – switch# configure terminal
Step 2. Command – switch(config-)# mac-address-table static mac_address vlanvlan-id {drop | interface{type slot/port} | port-channel number} [auto-learn]
I hope this helps!

Dear Joby,
The solution to your problem is to put manually the MAC Address into the table and it’s called static MAC address. But for you to do this you need patience and knowledge of certain line of command which I think is good but quite difficult. Try this simple steps nothing to worry about the commands or what so ever.
-
Check the UTP cable if it is plug on correctly.
-
Check if the UTP cable working properly makes sure that there are no cut wires on it.
-
Try to restart the switch. Turn it off then turn it on again.
Hope it helps :))
