Hi,
I uploaded some pictures from my iPod, and when I tried to open them using the Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended for editing.
I received this error:

Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file.
I tried to change the file type using MS paint from a PNG format into a JPEG format. But I still get the same error.
Should I use a converter to make my images viewable on adobe Photoshop?

There are lots of possibilities why you can’t open the files you uploaded from your iPod. It could be a file-transfer issue, file got corrupted because connection was compromised for a few seconds but was able to reconnect thus the transfer was able to continue. This normally happens in wireless connections. If that’s not the case then before doing the transfer, did you check that the files are okay?
If they are and if you say that the file upload was properly done and completed. You can try to reset your preferences in Photoshop (Photoshop FAQ). If still you’re having the same issue, try to consider checking the file sizes and check your computer ‘s memory if it would still allow you to process more images than what your memory can handle.

There are two solutions that you can try. First is to open the photo on another photo editor and then save the photo as a PNG file again. Try to open it on your Adobe Photoshop CS4 again. Or you can also open the photo from your MS Picture Viewer or through your browser. And then hit the Ctrl+PrtSc to print the screen. And then open your Adobe Photoshop and press Ctrl+V to paste the copied picture. And there you can successfully recover your photos and open it on your Photoshop.

The full error reads, “Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file”. You normally get this when you try to open a PNG file (*.png) in Adobe Photoshop which should work normally because the file format is supported. But this time, it doesn’t and it throws this error. There are two ways to fix this.
The first option is to save the file as PNG again using another application like Microsoft Paint. Click “Start”, “All Programs”, “Accessories” then select “Paint”. In Microsoft Paint, open the affected PNG file. Once the file is loaded, click “File” then “Save As” or press F12. In “Save As” dialog, select “PNG (*.png)” in “Save as type” then click “Save”.
After this, open the file you saved in Adobe Photoshop. The second option is to take a screenshot of the image. View the file first in Windows Explorer then hit the Print Screen key on your keyboard to take a screenshot. Next, open Adobe Photoshop then press Ctrl + N then hit Enter. Press Ctrl + V to paste the screenshot.
Now, just crop the image and save the file.
