From experience, I have not been able to extract on Adobe Reader X. But, I have been successful on version XI.Â
To extract, open the file on Acrobat reader XI. Then, to the left panel and pick the thumbnails. On viewing them, click on the tiny dropdown arrow and take the "Extract" option You will get two options. To extract by deleting or by creating a copy based on the extracted pages. Choose an option according to your preferences. Choose the save option, and you are good to go.

Hi Angelaeabram,
You can extract pages of Adobe Reader X by downloading CUTEPDF software and install it on your computer. To use this CutePDF software, you have to locate the pages first from your PDF file the pages that you want to extract or so, after locating the range of pages that you want, please print it using a virtual printer of CutePDF, it will tell you to print on how many pages and insert xx-xx pages that you with, After which, the output of CutePDF is also a PDF file that contains the pages that you printed earlier.
