Advantage and disadvantage of VOIP

I have a regular home phone service right now, but I’m thinking of switching over to VOIP because it’s cheaper.

What are the advantage and disadvantage of a VOIP home phone?

Advantages of VoIP ( Voice over Internet Protocol )

• Low Cost since only one network will provide the services both for phone and data
• Low Taxes since the calls are being made through the internet
• Portability since you can make a call anywhere in the world
• No need for extra cables (saving extra costs) since you can use VoIP no matter where you are
• Great Features since it offers call forwarding, call waiting, voicemail, caller ID, and even 3-way calling
• Flexibility
• Video Conferencing

Disadvantages of VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol)

• Service interruption during power outages
• Emergency calls
• VoIP Voice Quality
• Reliability
• Security

Advantage and disadvantage of VOIP

Advantages of VoIP:

(1) Low Cost. You can make a PC to PC call for free if you have a fast internet connection.

(2) Portability and Mobility. You can receive and make a call just by signing up in your VoIP account as long as there is an internet connection anywhere and everywhere.

(3) Features. VoIP service provides unique and good features that the traditional phones don’t have like caller ID, call waiting, conference call, and many others.

 

Disadvantages of VoIP:

 

(1) Power necessity. If you don’t have a back-up power supply you can’t make a call in times that there’s a power outage/interruption.

(2) Emergency calls. It cannot be used in an emergency call for reason that there’s no way of determining your location.

(3) Social Quality and Reliability. This is affected by the quality of your broadband connection and the performance of your PC.
