Advantages and disadvantages when you convert audio file to MPEG

Hi there!

I recently bought some songs/ music from iTunes store, which have AAC files. I’m thinking of converting the audio files to MPEG format but I somehow have second thoughts if mpeg is the right format. I mean, if I convert audio file to mpeg, will I get the same quality or can I convert it back to AAC or other audio files just in case I change my mind? What are the advantages and disadvantages of converting audio files to mpeg?

Hi James,
Yes, you can convert .AAC to .MPEG but I don't see any reason to do that.  There is no reason to do this because .AAC format has better quallity.You will not have better quality  if you change format. But, if you are going to do this I recommend you to save a copy of your songs because it's not impossible to loose them when you are changing your formats.
