Hi,
I have an Asus Laptop with the following specs: RAM- 8GB, Intel i3-3220 and Windows 8.1.
At first it had Windows 8 and when fully charged it could stay for 6 hours but now after the upgrade to Windows 8.1 battery only stays for 2 hours. Does Windows 8.1 consume more power? Can I reduce power consumption?
Asus Laptop Windows 8 battery life
Hi,
This happened to my desktop as well. This is primarily due to the power saving settings on the computer being set to the default, wherein the computer automatically allocates 20% of the battery life as a reserve. The solution that I have found is to go to the “Power Saving Settings”, and there you can find the Power Saving mode, and the allocated amount of battery charge that it stores as a reserve.
You can then adjust the percentage of battery charge that is allocated for it. On my computer, I only allocated 3% of the battery life as reserve, and I get around Five (5) hours of usage out of it.
