The ASUS Secure Delete is a program used to delete and shred files on the hard drive. It is no different with CCleaner’s “Drive Wiper” feature which also deletes files securely. When a file is securely deleted, the data cannot be restored. The application uses advanced technical method that covers the tracks of the files to make them permanently deleted.
Normally, when you delete a file, the data tracks are still present making the file restorable. But when you shred a file, these tracks are covered or rendered unreadable making the file unrestorable therefore making it permanently deleted. This is good if you want to delete files that are so sensitive you don’t want them to be recovered.
Another way of shredding files or securely deleting files is to use CCleaner. Download the free version of CCleaner and install it. Once installed, start CCleaner then go to “Tools” on the left pane and select “Drive Wiper” on the right. Configure the wiper and select the drive to wipe. When you are ready, click “Wipe” then wait until it is complete.
The only difference between ASUS Secure Delete and CCleaner’s Drive Wiper is that with ASUS Secure Delete, you shred files individually. You select which files to be shredded. While with CCleaner’s, the shredding targets the free space of the drive therefore securely deleting all previously deleted files. If you want to convert CCleaner to Pro, download the codes and follow the instructions.
