Hi!
My friends told me about the AVG Antivirus and then I installed it on my PC. I download the free trial version of this software to try it. There was no installation problem but after a while I found a message telling me that I must update the software. I tried to update it by opening the software GUI and then clicked update and I found an error message appearing as follows.
Update process failed..
Reason: Sorry, you do not have
permission to execute avgupdate."
So what can I do to update this software? It is a very urgent issue to the Antivirus software to complete saving my PC.
Thanks in advance.
AVG Error: Update Process Failed
AVG Update is filled with errors, there are few things you can try, in order to fix it:
-
Try to uninstall and re-install.
-
You can also clean up temporary update files by using a manager, located in the update manager from the AVG UI > Advanced settings > Tools > Update. Select Manage tab and click 'Delete temporary update files' button.
-
You may try to update it manually from here.
If none of this works, I suggest you to change your Antivirus software.
There are lots of free Antivirus available on the internet, like Avast Or Avira.
AVG Error: Update Process Failed
Hello! James,
Here is your solution. You need to run your AVG Antivirus update as a root, with all administrator rights. Like if you are using Ubuntu. So for running an AVG update it needs to be a root.
So open terminal and use "su" command to become root, then run AVG update.
This solution will work definitely. Please contact if you have any other problem.
Thanks
