Avid Media Composer error Exception: ADM_PLAY_NOT_ARMED

Hello,

Media Composer shows up today with this error, for no reason. It worked fine until now when some settings were changed last night when I turned off my PC. Now I don’t think that might cause the error, but still…So can anyone help me to fix this error please without reinstalling the program please?

Avid Media Composer error Exception: ADM_PLAY_NOT_ARMED

This issue with Avid Media Composer throwing an exception error “adm_play_not_armed” doesn’t really have a clear solution. It is actually a bug in the ADM player when running the source monitor in software mode. It happens to both Mac and Windows users. But there are users who tried temporary remedy and it seemed to fix the problem but maybe not entirely.

Try turning off the video monitor and turning on the audio monitor when playing. It will run normally without triggering the exception error. But if you try to turn off the audio monitor, it will eventually throw the exception error. Another way, if this doesn’t work, is by updating the user profile. Open Avid Media Composer then go to Settings then select Update User Profile.

It fixed the issue with the legacy setting. It might also fix the problem if you will upgrade Avid Media Composer to the latest version.
