Backing up data in zip format with ‘Akeeba’

Hello experts,

I am looking for some help to back up large files in ‘zip’ format. There is a problem with the backup. ‘Akeeba’ is backing up files which are more than 4 MB size, but it is only saving 4 MB in the ‘zip’ file. I think there is some problem with this. I heard that sometimes zipping of files may be failed because of the system limitations. If it is the limitation of the computer can ‘Akeeba’ give an alert?

The backup is completing without any problem in this case. But when I am restoring the backup it gives problems. The JPA is working properly. But it seems very tough to unpack in a Non-GUI Linux server and so I don’t want to use it. Also, sometimes ‘kickstart’ unable to unzip the JPA files. That’s why I am using WinZip.

Any help ?

Tom

When the files are very large, the archiving process may take quite a longer time to complete, and therefore you need to be patient and allow the akeeba application to finish up. You should not interrupt the system, or the folder that is being archived for that may cause the archiving process to terminate.

In case the files are too large, then you may separate them into smaller chunks for the archiving process to be easier; but you should do that for only those files that will not corrupt when you separate them. In case the archiving process ends up having some sort of problems, then that is the possible reason as to why they are failing to unpack properly, and therefore you will need to repeat the archiving process well.
