Backup your Gmail on local drive

Dear Techyv Users,

Do any one among you, backup your Gmail on local drive using and configuring it with Microsoft Outlook 2007; If so, I need to know about the step by step process of configuring Gmail in  my systems Microsoft Outlook 2007.

Backup your Gmail on local drive

The solution is in two steps:

Two things to verify before step 1:

• IMAP and POP should be enabled in Gmail settings of the account
• First enable IMAP
• then enable POP for all mail
• and 'Save Changes'

1. Set up your Outlook for Gmail account:

• Now open your 'Outlook 2007' to add new e-mail account
• click 'next' to start setting outlook
• Choose 'Yes' and click 'Next'
• Click 'Next'
• Click 'Next'
•  
• Add your account info for user info and logon info for your account and for server in to fill as in the image. Click on 'More settings'
• Click on 'Advanced' tab  
• Fill in the info as shown in the image, for server port number
• Click in ok and now you are ready to sync you Gmail with the outlook.

Second part is to back up the emails form Outlook of your account:

• First download this tool 'Personal folder backup' and install it on your pc
• Now go to the 'File' menu and click on 'Backup', and you will be able to back up

That's it you have successfully set up Outlook and took a back up for Gmail.

Backup your Gmail on local drive

It is very easy to configure Gmail Account in MS outlook 2007. Follow these simple steps and get your Gmail account configured in just a min.

Step-1: Go to tools -> Accounts settings.

Step-2: Click on New.

* Do not change the default settings of any button.

Step-3: Click on next button.

Step-4: Enter your Name, Gmail Account and password. Now let Ms Outlook do the rest for you. It will automatically set all outlook fields accordingly. Finally click on finish button. A test email would be automatically received when you will open Ms Outlook 2007.
