The BearExtender Turbo High Speed 802.11ac USB Wi-Fi Adapter is a USB Wi-Fi adapter for users with Mac OS X. The USB Wi-Fi adapter has a maximum throughput of 867 Mbps and works on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, 10.7 Lion, 10.8 Mountain Lion, and Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks. It doesn’t support the latest Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite.

It is dual band at 2.4 and 5 GHz and supports 802.11b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi technology. It supports USB 3.0 SuperSpeed and backward compatible to USB 2.0 but is not compatible with USB 1.0 and or USB 1.1. It doesn’t require an internal AirPort card. It measures 3.5 x 0.4 x 2.2 inches and weighs 4.8 ounces.

The BearExtender Turbo USB Wi-Fi adapter works with any Wi-Fi standards such as 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, and 802.11ac. So, basically, you can use this Wi-Fi adapter in any Wi-Fi network. But to have the maximum speed, the USB Wi-Fi adapter needs to connect to an 802.11ac network or to an 802.11ac enabled router.
