BIng toolbar just won’t go away

I have internet explorer 8.1 and the bing toolbar in my PC. I have tried getting rid of the Bing toolbar for a very long time now without success. I have used different ways available on the internet but they do not work. I recall some post saying that i should click on remove on the bing button, yet no bing button exists on the browser. Is it possible to remove? if yes, how do i remove it? Since its removal methods are hidden, could itbe spyware?

If you see Bing Search bar, then it means you have set it as your default search engine. If you set any other search engine as your default search engine, you will not see it.

You can remove or disable it by opening Internet Explorer, clicking Settings and then selecting Manage add-ons.

Select Search providers from the left side.

Now you can either change your default search engine or uncheck the box, i.e., Search in the address bar and the search box in the new tab page option.

In Microsoft Internet Explorer, the default search engine is Bing. In Microsoft Internet Explorer 8, there are two search engines included: Bing and Live Search. When you upgrade Microsoft Internet Explorer to version 8, the default search engine is set to Bing. Now, the reason why you cannot remove this search engine is because it is currently the selected default search engine.

To remove it from your browser, you have to select a different search engine. Now, if you really want to remove Bing from Microsoft Internet Explorer 8, you need to select the other search engine and make it the default search engine. To do this, click “Start”, “Control Panel”, “Network and Internet Connections” then “Internet Options”. In Internet Properties window, in “General” tab, under “Search” section, click “Settings”.

On the next screen, make sure “Search Providers” is selected on the left pane. Now, select “Live Search” then click “Set as default”. This will now make Live Search your default search engine. After this, select “Bing” then click “Remove”.

On the other hand, if you don’t have another search engine like “Live Search”, go to Internet Explorer Gallery then select a search engine to add on your browser.
