Why is bitdefender total security blocking my internet connection? I recently installed bitdefender total security 2015 on my laptop and I was unable to connect to the internet afterward. I have checked the firewall setting to see if it was responsible, but I did not see any thing to suggest that the firewall is blocking my connection. How do I troubleshoot to find out the reason for this problem?

There are several reasons for your problem to narrow down the list, let’s do some common troubleshooting.
Are you using an Admin account? Or just a regular user?, Bitdefender offers parental control to admin user that blocks internet access for a specific user or group. To check if you’re using an admin account, open control panel and click User Account, then check what your account privilege is. I’m assuming you’re using Windows OS.

If your account doesn’t have admin privilege, then ask your administrator or if your account is Admin, and still can’t access the internet then check your router if it’s turned on and restart your router and check your network notification icon if it is connected to the internet. If not, then click troubleshoot.
Check if you’re connected to the internet by right clicking the network notification icon and open network sharing, then click local area connection to check if you got internet access.
Still unable to surf the web? If this happened right after you installed Bitdefender then uninstall the program and check if you can now access the internet.
