Bluehost is one of the biggest web hosting company now owned by Endurance International Group founded by Matt Heaton in 2003 which collectively hosts more than 1.9 million domains together with its sister companies iPage, FastDomain, and HostMonster. Their servers operate in-house in Provo, Utah in a 50,000 square feet facility.

The company introduced a new feature called “CPU throttling” in 2009 which decreases the user’s CPU usage whenever the user is pulling “too much” server resources at one time. This feature effectively shuts down the client’s website for several hours in the entire day. Bluehost was acquired by Endurance International Group in 2010.

In March 2015, Bluehost together with other hosting services Justhost, Hostgator, Hostmonster, and Fastdomain were hacked by Syrian Electronic Army or SEA. Syrian Electronic Army claimed that these services were hosting terrorist websites. All these hosting services were owned by Endurance International Group.
