I have an Asus M11B desktop that has a GTX 980 installed. I now need to buy a new Intel i7 CPU and now I am wondering whether it would affect my FPS if used with the current components. Will my CPU bottleneck my GPU? Help me get the best CPU for this PC.

Hi,

Your “Asus M11B Desktop” and “GTX 980” will have no affect by a new “Intel i7 CPU”. It will increase your computer’s performance for playing high graphic games into it. It will not affect your “FPS”, if you are using with your current system components. No, your “CPU” will not bottleneck your “GPU”. The best “CPU” for this will be “Intel’s Core i5-4690K”.

Hope this answer will help you a lot.

The ASUS M11B desktop PC originally ships with AMD FM2 processor and a selected AMD Radeon or NVIDIA GeForce graphics adapter. If you are installing or upgrading your processor to Intel Core i7 from the original AMD FM2, I don’t see any problem unless the one you’ll be purchasing is much slower than the original then that would cause a slow in performance.

Just make sure when purchasing the Intel Core i7 processor it is compatible with the socket board of the processor. Also, if you like playing games on your computer, setting your screen resolution to a lower size will improve the performance of the computer. Some of the video laggings are caused by high screen resolution.

It happens because the graphics adapter needs to processor very small pixels and this puts great strain to the video card because there are thousands if not millions of small pixels that requires processing.
