I am using Google Chrome browser on my PC. I am trying to open a website but I keep getting a message which says – The identity of this website cannot be verified. What could be the problem?
Browser Error – The Identity Of This Website Cannot Be Verified. Please Help.
The message means that the webpage’s security certificate or the webpage’s security credentials are not accepted by Google Chrome browser. The information sent by the website’s server is still encrypted but there is no certainty that this certificate is presented by the same website as the server page you are trying to visit.
In this case, the Chrome browser detects suspicion and tags such website as unsafe or insecure. This happens when the domain name uses an http:// connection rather than an https:// connection which is tagged as secure.Web developers generally use such certificates that are signed by themselves since doing this is free. You can still access the website by doing this –
- On the screen stating the message, click on the link saying ‘advanced.’
- Now, click on the ‘proceed’ button. You can also mark this website as an exception if you visit it regularly.
