I am working on making lists for my class, and through the lists I am comparing the names of students who scored more than 80% in grade 1 and then in grade 2. I want to award students who performed well in both. Can anyone tell me how to compare 2 lists in excel?

Yes, excel is an amazing tool for comparing lists.

Suppose you have two lists, list 1 which is A1 to A18, and list two is B1 to B15.

To find which are the names that exist in both, you can use a handy function called ‘Vlookup’.

You can use it in the syntax explained below:

VLOOKUP(, , , [range_lookup]) Remember that vlookup is short for vertical lookup. So, it moves vertically and checks all values.
