Hi guys. I think my desktop is infected with a virus. I was browsing a web page with my Firefox browser and Google as homepage. I clicked a button on the said webpage and it opened a lot of tabs with just blank pages. I launched Firefox again but it now has changed my homepage and redirecting me to some other page. My Avast antivirus could not detect any virus so I'm thinking of installing Avira to see if it can delete the virus. Need insights in Avira blank virus. I’m still on Windows XP 64 bit. Thanks.
Can Avira blank virus be deleted?

Hi Caroline,
Avira is good antivirus software. I will recommend to go for Microsoft security essentials if you have Windows XP SP3.
The problem your facing it may be because of virus and it may not be. Check if other browsers are working perfectly fine. If yes then it is problem with Firefox, If not then it can be virus. If it is problem with Firefox then simply try to "Reset the Firefox". To reset Firefox follow the steps.
1. Open Firefox, on the top you will see HELP option click on that.
2. Then click on Troubleshooting information.
3. You will see Reset Firefox on the top right hand side. Click on reset. Your Firefox will get reset and check if its working fine. If not then follow the steps below.
Start the system in safe mode with networking. Turn OFF the system and turn it ON again. As soon as you turn on the system. Start tapping F8 key. You get the option for safe mode with networking. Â Now you need to download malware bytes and run scan. This software will clean your computer and will make it virus free. Restart your system. Your browser will work properly.
Thank You,

Can Avira blank virus be deleted?
Hello there Caroline,
With regard to this problem, Avira is not the best solution to use. There are manual ways to remove that virus but it will take a process. I recommend using Malwarebytes Anti Malware since they are very trusted when it comes to threat or virus removal. Just follow these steps for you to get rid of that virus:
1. Close all your browser windows and clear your internet temporary files. Click Start>Run, type ‘cleanmgr’ and click OK.
2. Scan your system with Malwarebytes and remove the infections it found.
3. Reboot your pc.
4. Scan again and remove any remaining infections.
Hope this helps you.
Regards Ronald
