Can I add a video to a powerpoint slide?

I am making a Power Point presentation and I have to add a video, but I am having difficulty. It looks ok when I am in the editing version, but when I run the Power Point it doesn't come up timely and sometimes not at all. Is it possible the file is too big? If so, what can I do to correct it? Thank you.

Actually the file being too big can have the least effect the insertion of a video as long as the file is properly saved and it is properly accessed by Power Point.

Yet, it may be that you have not followed the correct procedure in entering a video into your power point presentation. So, try following these steps correctly,

  1. Go to the slide that you want to embed the video(in normal view).
  2. Click on the option called "Video" in the Insert tab, under the Media group.
  3. Select the preferred video insert option such as from file, etc.
  4. When the dialog box appears, select the video.
  5. Click on Insert.
