I only have a Microsoft Word Starter 2010 in my home, and I don't really use it that much. While in my office, we have Microsoft Word 2010 and when I tried to open some Word documents of Word 2010, I can't open it saying the file is corrupted, but actually, it is working properly in the office.
Does the Microsoft Word 2010 have a different file name than the Starter? Is there a way to open this document in my home in Word Starter?

This software is a reduced version off MS Word. It basically has ad-supported programming in it, which makes it different from full fledge version of MS Word. Mainly MS Word Starter supports the basic file formats of MS Office and is compatible with all older versions of Office.
I am giving you a couple of links you should have a look at them. They might be helpful to you in order to get a clear idea of MS Word Starter.

Microsoft Office 2010 Starter and professional edition shares the same file extensions. There should be no problem at all opening files form Professional edition to Starter edition.
They only differ in some features that Professional edition provides that limits in Starter edition. In your problem, maybe Office Starter are not allowed to open .docx files from Professional edition.
Microsoft are to make sure that you are going to upgrade to the higher edition of their Office, maybe it’s one of their tactics.
Anyway, in order for you to open the file, try to save your file to lower version of Office like as Word 97-2003 document (.doc) so you can open it in your home. This is the best option that I could think of, hope it would work for you.
