Cannot contact the database server
Sometimes, that error has something to do with the Firewall settings. If your firewall settings or the target computer or the servers firewall is ON then that could be the issue where it prevents you from accessing remotely. Try to turn OFF the firewall settings but it is up to you to take the risk since you are going to turn off one of the safety measures in the system.
Since you are working in a networked environment, you also have to verify that the server or the computer where the company file is stored is turned ON and check if it is in a standby mode otherwise you cannot work the programs in it. Also, you have to make sure that the machine you are using is running in an administrator state so you can have a full control of it.
Cannot contact the database server
Hi Stevecanry,
I have a solution that would be helpful for you. Please follow the below solution –
-
First you have to make sure that full program have installed on your system.
-
Then you have to start QuickBooks on the server.
-
Go to the QuickBooks file menu and select the open or Restore Company.
-
Then Click on the Open a company file and click on the Next.
-
Then try to find out your company files and select it.
-
Then you have to choose the open file in multi-user mode.
-
Go to the open option.
-
Enter your company files by your normal user name and password.
-
Then you have to choose file and log off to close the company files on the server.
I hope it will solve your problem. If it will not work then reinstall your QuickBooks Database Manager Again or repair it.
