Hello,

I got some files on my desktop for a while now which I want to delete from desktop. However some of the files are not deleted. I want them to be removed for the desktop menu since it is costing me a lot of disk space. Please someone help me solve this problem.

Hey Lambert,

I was facing the same problem a month ago. I searched on Google for this problem. There were many solutions for this problem but no solution worked for me.

I tried deleting it from CMD but I failed. May be I was not using the right commands but I was really stuck in the problem.

The thing I do to get rid of this problem is just the installation of software. The software named as DelinvFile.

The software is very user friendly and easy to use.

Try to delete your file with the help of this software. It will work.

Here is the link to your problem:

Download and install it.

Thanks.

Use the following step by step instructions to resolve that issue:

  • First for all you will click the start menu button on your computer, and then click run if you're using Windows XP or click in the search field if you're using vista or Windows 7.
  • After that you will need to enter "cmd".
  • A command window will come up.
  • You will need to use the cd command followed by the directory which the file you wish to delete is in.
  • For instance, to navigate to your desktop you will need to enter cd desktop, and then you enter dir /x.
  • That will display a list of all files in the directory.
  • You should see the normal filename of each file, and in the column to the right, a file that looks like FOLDERNAM~1.TXT.
  • You will need to type del and then FOLDERNAM~1.
  • That will delete the file.
