Cannot install the Vista OS

I borrowed a Vista installer from a friend. He gave me what appears to me is an original copy. I excitedly installed it to my laptop but after I attempted to run the installation I cannot open its content and received a message to verify from the vendor the validity of the installer.

What could be the possible reason to this problem?

Please help me what to do.

Thank you.

Dear friend,

I guess the copy you got was on a CD or a DVD, this external storage disk may have some scratches, it really doesn't matter how small the scratch is, it can make some files on this CD or DVD corrupt. Therefore that error is likely to occur.

To solve it you can either,

1. Go to run on the start menu and type in a command "path/setup.exe/fv Data1.msi."  But if it persists, then you will have to update your windows installer.

This can be done by clicking on ' My computer', click on control panel and double click on system.

Click on automatic updates and enable them, OR on the start menu click on windows update to update your windows vista version.

This will help you to do away with that error.

Good stay

If you are installing Windows Vista on your computer using a DVD and you receive this error, it means you have a damaged disc or the Windows Vista setup DVD is damaged. On the other hand, it may also mean your drive’s optical lens is dirty or the DVD itself is dirty. Try cleaning the lens of your optical drive with a lens cleaner.

You can buy one from a local computer store or buy it online. If this doesn’t fix the problem, you can just download the installer and burn it on a blank DVD or make a bootable USB flash drive. Download 64-bit Windows Vista Business Service Pack 2. The ISO file is approximately 2.98 GB so make sure you have enough free space on your drive.
