My father bought his favorite canon camera yesterday, and when he loaded the camera’s CD into his laptop to install it, the laptop cannot read the CD and this error message appeared. “A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32).”
Some of the websites and forums that I have visited suggested uninstalling the driver of the canon camera and to click the option available to scan for hardware changes to reinstall or upgrade the driver.
I also troubleshoot the driver by using the troubleshooting wizard on the general properties of the laptop. I did as the forum advised, but it seems that it was not as reliable as I expected since the same error had occurred when I used the CD again.
Any valuable help please?
Thanks a lot.

Cannot Read the CD Installer
Hi!
In this situation, there is another thing you can try and do to fix the problem. What you need to do is change the start up type of your driver in the registry. Since it seems Windows has disabled yours, first thing you need to do is to figure out what would be the value of your driver in the registry, seeing as you didn't include the model of your device you can try searching this part for yourself. Once you figure that one out, here's how you can change the start up type in the registry of your driver:
-
First thing you need to do is go to Start then Run then type regedit and press OK.
-
Now from here go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServices, here you can find each services and drivers in your PC listed with its own key.
-
Now find the driver for your canon camera, find Start and double-click it, change the value either 0 or 1.
-
Exit and restart your computer.

Cannot Read the CD Installer
Hi,
As what I have understood with your question is that you are having problems with the installation of the canon camera using it's CD. At some point, you can also install it without even using the current disc. As we know, each digital camera comes with a CD which contains various application programs to support and enhance the device. However, the CD is kind of out-dated, and it can be easily lost, scratched or even misplaced. In this case, canon does provide direct download for the setup installer or updater of the various camera software programs at its support site which is accessible through http://global.canon/en/index.html.
The problem is that these setup installers are meant for upgrade only, even though it contains everything in the full version of the software. In other words, the CD you have must be inserted to verify the ownership of canon products.
I hope this information helped you.
