I am working in Windows XP, and others my colleagues use Windows 7 and someone else uses Windows Server 2003 or Windows 7. Sometimes I need to access network drive such as c drive, d drive e drive etc. without manually sharing this drive. Usually I can access all network drives but can’t access this on the computer which is running on Windows 7.
I try to access Windows 7 computers C drive by administrative password, but can’t access. So please help me how to access? My network is OK and no firewall is on that computer.
Can’t Access Network drive C?
Hi,
Originally, Windows 7 prevents any network users to access it’s system drive (generally C drive) for security reasons. It is impossible to access the C drives of computers running Windows 7, even though the drive is shared properly with all permissions set correctly. This may be why you cannot access their C drives.
Â
It is even impossible to share any folders directly, inside the C drive or any system folders like the Windows folder, Program Files folder or other folders inside it.
Â
However, the Users folder and the folders belonging to current logged in users and public folders inside the Users folder can be shared. You can use that share to your use.
Can’t Access Network drive C?
It is a simple task to access your hard drive on a network you have to do some simple things and you will get your result. I am going to tell you the solution for your problem just follow this:
-
Make sure the drive you are sharing is a NTFS drive and it have a ability to be shared on the network.
-
Make sure you have proper permissions to see and to work on that drive.
-
See that the IP of the both computers are not conflicting and are not causing problem.
-
See The limitations on shared folder is it only shared for special users or for all of you.

I hope one of the point must attract you and you will be able to solve your problem.
