I have already damaged more then 10 blank CD guys and I need your help immediately. I have been using AsusDRW-24B1ST for last six months without facing any problems. But currently I am having serious problem with it. In the middle of the writing process, it vanishes automatically without showing any kind of message. I am using Nero 7 essentials to burn the CD. I thought it was corrupted and tried to burn after reinstalling the software. I have also tried by changing different burning options. But nothing can stop the error. What is the problem? Please share your knowledge and rescue me.
Can’t Write with Asus DVD Writer
Â
Hello Foster.
It is possible that your Asus CD/DVD writer may have gone it's hardware limit or lifespan. In my experience, each CD/DVD burner have maximum CD/DVD to write into. It cannot just write CD/DVD forever.
Another possibility is the software used in burning. I have Nero burning software on my windows before. And suddenly after many months of burning DVDs, it can't anymore burn. Error will occur in the middle of the burning process. However, as I switch into linux desktop, I can burn properly from there.
So I suggest to try different burning software in your case, assuming that your CD/DVD writer is still in good condition. There are lots of burning software out there—Express Burn, Roxio, Alcohol, etc.
Can’t Write with Asus DVD Writer

I have experienced this same dilemma before. My DVD/CD was more than seven months old at that time. I was trying to burn videos for client, 1st cd didn’t burn so I thought it was just the cd, then I changed another cd until I consumed 10 cd’s consecutively giving me the same negative results.
I tried install and uninstalled the program,  I was using  Nero Express back then, but to no avail it was still a mess. It further worsen my case when I tried to put some blank cd’s and dvd’s to check if it could read a blank cd, unfortunately it didn’t read any of my new blank cd’s and dvd’s.
To verify what the root of the problem is I pulled out my DVD/CD writer and connect it to another CPU unit. I installed the same Nero Express and checked the same blank cd’s and dvd’s that my 1st CPU was rejecting.
The 2nd CPU reads the same blank cd’s and dvd’s 100% no problem. Then I can burn the video files for my client without any hassle. The 2 CPU’s that I had the same Operating OS windows XP since I am using these units in an internet shop.
You can try and use different cd/dvd writing software as mentioned above. If this doesn’t solve the problem our last resort is to reformat your CPU as I have done in my first CPU.
Hope this will help you. Cheers!Â
