CD rom and DVD rom, know about it and its work

Hi

I want to know about cd ROM and DVD ROM and describe me because I do not  know what is it and what its work .

If cd ROM fail it,s work what can be happen ?

Good Day Lija,

CD-ROM and DVD-ROM are both optical drives and can only read data from CD and DVD CD. However they are different,  DVD-ROM is a high density data disk drive which you can store data up to 4.7GB while CD-ROM is a data disk that used to read only data with a limited storage up to 700MB only.

NOTE:   CD-ROM means Compact Disk-Read Only Memory
               DVD-ROM means Digital Versatile Disc – Read Only Memory

Lija,

This is a simple question to ask, but I will give you the solution since I can't take it as a by the way question. A cd-rom (in full compact disc rom) and dvd-rom all have almost the same purpose.

As the name suggests, they read the discs using optical lenses. The name ROM means Read Only Memory, which means the computer can only read the memory but cannot write.

The dvd rom also functions the same, DVD stands for Digital Versatile Disc, it reads the disc and stores the information. If the dvd rom or cd rom fails or gets spoilt, you can open the casing and wipe off dust since it might be the cause of the error and return the casing to test whether it works.

You may also use a paper clip to open the cd rom in the emergency hole as illustrated;
