I need someone to guide me on how to change a certain demand report into a source physical file since I have been informed that only database tables or source physical files are the only type that can be sent to I series. It is important that I transfer this report to excel. Apart from using Client Access Data Transfer is there any other program that I might use and what command should I use to change the saved report into a source file? Please help.            Â

Changing a certain demand report into a source physical file
Hi there,
You should follow the below steps to perform data transfer from physically file into an Excel sheet.
-
Open Microsoft Excel
-
Click on Tools option from the Toolbar
-
Click on iSeries Access Data Transfer option. If this doesn’t display, click on double arrow.
-
Transfer data window will be opened
-
Select the Create New and choose whether to include column headings..
-
Click on OK
-
Now select the iSeries server the data is to be downloaded from and click the Next
-
Now if you know the library/file (member), type it in and click the Next button otherwise click the Browse button. If you click the Browse button, a new window to connect to the iSeries may be displayed. If so, type in the user ID and password. A list of libraries in the library list is displayed. Click on the plus sign (+) next to the library where the file exists. The list expands to show all the files in that library. If the file contains members, the list expands to display the list of members. Double-click on the member that is to have the data transferred to the Excel spreadsheet, and click on the OK button. Click the Next button.
-
On the next screen, click the Next button.
-
If this transfer request will be used again, type in a file name and location to where it is to be saved; otherwise, leave the File name box empty.
-
Click the Finish button

Thank you Heiley Paint for your solution. I followed the steps you gave in using the iSeries Data Access Transfer. I'm really glad with the help that you gave. I thought I'll never be able to do it. Thanks again.
