Hi people of techyv, please allow me to share my experience here in techyv, when I am about to finish my test webpage using Microsoft FrontPage, I meet an error, please see below the error message.

Microsoft FrontPage Changing this folder into a Web will cause pages in it to change.

Microsoft FrontPage

Changing this folder into a Web will cause pages in it to change.

-Pages that include files may not be updated when included files change.

-Hyperlinks on link bars may be removed.

-Themes on pages may be lost.

Are you sure you want to do this?

As I read on the error, it makes me think more and more, such a strange error message, that is why I have a hard time figuring out what went wrong, when I look for same error message over the internet, but none was posted as what I have, I am asking for some help on this error message, hoping to hear your ideas, thanks.

Hi Susan,

This error usually occurs when your trying to convert from a high version to a lower version file format. In your case I don't know what you are changing all I know is that your turning it to a web. So if the files you are changing are not web format then that will be normal case. But if not try updating your FrontPage to the latest version so it will have the necessary updates that will enable you to change or convert such files without such strange error messages.

Hope this helps.

Since you have finished the design in front page and you want to publish the details, then you should use the Publish command, which will transfer the FrontPage content from one FrontPage-extended web server to another. When you use this command, the content as well as the functionality of installed FrontPage components will be transferred.

But if you use another method for publishing and transferring the content, for instance the method that you are using right now then the FrontPage components may end up not being not be functional until you run a tool called the FrontPage Recalculate Web on the production server. You will need to run this command for the FrontPage Server Extensions on the production server to parse the content therefore be able to recognize the FrontPage components.
