Chatting With a Workstation Disconnected
When I do use a chat feature in a workstation and disconnect, does the remote chat window close down too?
Or need to be closed manually?

Hi Caitlincarmenn,
No, it will not.
The remote chat window will not close. Unless you are at the location of the remote computer you were chatting with.
This way, you can manually shutdown the remote window as well.
You can try and use other chatting software though. There are some that have advanced features like restoring previous conversations, saving offline chat messages, reviewing messages sent back and forth etc. Also, you can try and see exactly what requirements you need in order to find chatting software that you will enjoy and love to chat using.
Hope this answers your question.

Yes, that’s right. The chat application on the other workstation that you are chatting with will not automatically close when you exit your chat application. It doesn’t work that way. That’s why if the user on that workstation left and your boss or maybe the supervisor suddenly walked around, he may accidentally see the chat application and also your username or name in it.
We all know that doing other things during working hours that are not included in your normal work are really not allowed and you may get a memo because of this. That is, if you get caught. So to be safe, make sure you tell the person on the other end to also close the chat application when you are both finished chatting.
