Hi,

Please help me on my CMOS display errors. I am having this error, CMOS checksum error – Defaults loaded Press F1 to continue or Del to enter setup Pressing F1 will continue opening my Windows XP desktop. Pressing Del will allow me to enter my BIOS settings. I am receiving a series of hangs and freezes and I cannot set the clock correctly. If I set the clock, it will automatically go back to previous year 2006. And will give me error on expired certificate. I want to know how to reset my CMOS battery, as this will be my first option to resolve the issue.

If this won’t work then maybe my CMOS battery needs a replacement. Please send me some help.

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

Kindly remove your cmos battery and replace it with the new one. I also experience this kind of error when i used my old PC that was already 10 years ago it will display on the 1st booting press f1 to continue. No matter how i adjust the CMOS the problem still there it needs the battery replacement in order to boot smoothly. I replaced a cmos battery on the next day and i don't encounter this kind of error and my computer runs just like brandnew.

You can also go to your nearest computer service center and ask assistance regarding this problem.

Solution:

Battery Replacement.

Thanks,

Resetting your CMOS battery is done by resetting the clock settings in the BIOS, and although you are saying that you have done that I will advise that you do it again but make sure that you save the changes.
Reboot the computer.
Press DEL to enter setup as you computer prompts so that you can enter the BIOS.
From the BIOS, change the clock settings to the current date and time.
Before you close the BIOS window, make sure that you have saved the changes.

The reason as to why the changes were going back to the old settings is because you were not saving the changes and therefore this time round everything should work just fine.
